How to print personalised inserts from within your Shopify store using the Penny Black app
Pre-requisities
To enable printing through Shopify:
- ensure that the Penny Black App has been installed in your Shopify store.
- if you are using our Satellite hardware, then reach out to support@pennyblack.io to set up your account for Shopify printing.
Configure app settings
Go to the Penny Black app homepage in your Shopify store to set up the Shopify native printing functionality.
From here, go to Settings to review the App configuration.
Ensure that Enable Printing Within Shopify is ticked, then hit save.
Printing from the order listing page
You can print multiple orders from the order listing page within the Shopify admin. This can be achieved by selecting orders from the list and click Print with Penny Black from the More Actions dropdown.
Click print from the confirmation modal.
Depending on your Penny Black plan, the personalised prints may open in your browser so you can print them directly. We recommend printing in the best quality that your printer is capable of.
If you are using Google Chrome or Edge then changing print quality requires a few more steps. In the print preview screen, click More settings and then scroll down to Print using system dialog.... You will be able to change the print quality in this new system print dialog that has opened.
Alternatively, to speed this up use the Ctrl+Shift+P (on Windows) or Cmd+Option+P (on macOS) to open the system print dialog directly when the personalised PDFs open in a new tab.
Printing from the order details page
We recommend printing from individual order details pages when you only have a single order to fulfil. If you are fulfilling multiple orders it is better to print them all together from the order listing page, as detailed above.
You can also request Penny Black prints from the details page of a specific order. Trigger the print through the More Actions dropdown on this page.
Selecting Print with Penny Black from this dropdown will follow the same flow described above when printing from the order listing page.
