Understanding the printing metrics captured by Penny Black and how to use them
We utilize specific metrics to measure the performance of our printing processes. Various factors can influence these metrics, including hardware, WMS integration, packers, and network conditions. Matched orders
These are orders that have matched a Penny Black campaign. This will vary depending on what % of your total orders you target with campaigns.
Print requests
These are Matched Orders that have received a Print Request from your WMS/Chrome Extension. A print Request is the same as a print trigger Eg. Scanning a barcode, Clicking the Penny Black button.
Prints
These are Print Requests that have successfully been printed.
Failed prints
These are Print Requests that have failed to print.
Ratios
Order / Match %
This ratio represents the % of orders that have matched a campaign from your total orders.
Possible reasons for a low Order/Match ratio:
- You are not targeting all your orders with Penny Black
Match / Requested %
From your total Matched Orders, what % of them have received a Print Request (trigger)
Possible reasons for a low Match/Requested ratio:
- A packer is not triggering prints
- There is an issue with your WMS integration or Chrome Extension
- Orders are being packed at benches without a Penny Black printer
- Satellite network outage
Match / Print %
From your total Matched Orders, what % of them successfully received a printed insert.
Possible reasons for a low Match/Print ratio:
- A packer is not triggering prints
- There is an issue with your WMS integration or Chrome Extension
- Orders are being packed at benches without a Penny Black printer
- Satellite network outage
- Printer is out of paper or ink
- Printer is jamming
Requested / Print % - Requested / Fail %
From your total Print requests, what % of them successfully or unsuccessfully receive a printed insert.
Possible reasons for a low Requested/Print or high Requested/Fail ratio:
