Setting up gift messages

Add customer gift messages to your inserts to create & print your stylised gift notes

Shopify

  • Go to Settings > E-Commerce and find the Shopify Gift Messages panel to configure your gift messages
  • Choose one of the options from the Shopify Gift Message Field Type for how you're capturing gift notes
  • If you capture the gift message recipient name & want to use this in your campaign, use the Gift Message Recipient fields to configure which fields you're using to capture this

If you are using either Note Attributes or Line Item Attributes to collect gift notes, you must specify the name of the attribute in the Shopify Gift Message Field Name input (this depends on how it's been coded in your Shopify theme, but a good example would be "gift message")

  • Once you have configured your settings we recommend placing a test order to check the attributes have been mapped correctly. After the order has been placed go to the Activity page and check the order details:

Woocommerce

To capture gift notes in Penny Black from your Woocommerce orders, please provide the meta field under which this gift note is stored.

This will differ depending on how you are capturing the message.

  • If this is an in-house development then you might have your own attribute name. If it’s an off-the-shelf plugin then you will need to determine what it is stored under
  • If using Gift Message for WooCommerce by powerfulwp then the meta field is gmfw_gift_message
