Help troubleshooting connection issues with your printer by checking it's IP (network) address
This article applies to version 1 of the Penny Black satellites
Printer IP address
Every time printers are switched on, they need a network address (IP address).
Out of the box, printers will be configured to automatically get an IP address from the satellite that they are connected to. Whilst this will work most of the time, if the printer is turned on before the satellite it can sometimes get stuck without a working address and will need to be switched off and on again.
We recommend a static IP address for version 1 satellites to avoid this issue.
However, if you do need to check your IP address, follow these steps on the printer's LCD screen:
The correct IP address is 192.168.42.101. If the address starts with 169.254, it’s wrong, and the printer won’t work. It will need to be restarted once the satellite has been on for 1 minute.
