Help troubleshoot connection issues with your printer by checking it's IP (network) address
Printer IP address
Each time a printer is powered on, it requires a network address, known as an IP address, to connect to the network.
Out of the box, printers will be configured to automatically get an IP address from the satellite that they are connected to. If the printer is turned on before the satellite it can sometimes get stuck without a working address and will need to be switched off and on again.
Use the steps below on the printer's LCD screen to find it's IP address:
An Invalid IP address starts with 169.254. If you see this number then the printer does NOT have a working network connection. Check that it is properly connected to the satellite and restart it.
If you have a version 1 Satellite (Raspberry PI) then setting it to a static IP address of 192.168.42.101 will prevent this problem.
